It is unlikely that the iPhone13 will feature in-display TouchID, but it is likely that future iPhones will feature in-display Face ID

Apple's iPhone 13 may not be the first product to implement display and Touch ID technology.

  • Apple's iPhone 13 may not provide display or Touch ID.
  •  However, Apple may have plans to launch a Face ID that doesn't appear on the iPhone.
  • Some of the flagship range of Face ID will not appear on future iPhone models.

The iPhone 13 is unlikely to have a TouchID fingerprint sensor under the display. According to Bloomberg, it just decided it wasn't the iPhone 13 of the year, as it is reported that the iPhone maker is testing in-display Touch ID technology for the next iPhone. However, Apple may still be "long-term" aiming to release iPhones with advanced unlocking technology.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg debunked rumors in a newsletter called Power On that the iPhone 13 display would be Apple's first iPhone with Touch ID. The iPhone 13 may have the same Face ID unlock system as the previous model. This is in contrast to the Barclays report, where Apple had earlier said that it would get Touch ID on the iPhone 13 display. But that doesn't mean Apple hesitates. "Apple tested in-screen Touch ID for its next upcoming flagship iPhone, but it won't be this year,"

If you look at the information, the in-display TouchID technology is likely to appear on the flagship iPhones early next year. However, Apple has a 'long-term goal' of implementing FaceID on displays instead of TouchID. According to Gurman, Apple is working on technology to hide (or move) the Face ID sensor under the display, similar to how camera technology works under the screen. For example, Gurman says that the in-display Face ID is similar to what's likely included with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.

Apple can take two approaches here, as far as flagship iPhone models are both TouchID and FaceID. High-end iPhones may implement in-display FaceID, but lower-priced iPhones often include FaceID in the notch, like traditional iPhones. Alternatively, high-end iPhones with in-display Face ID and low-end iPhones with in-display TouchID could complete the phase-out of the launch notch and related FaceID technology.

FaceID technology on displays should be Apple's priority, but TouchID may be an option if things don't work out organically. However, not all iPhone13s are targeted. That doesn't mean it isn't a worthwhile upgrade. According to rumors, the iPhone 13 notch will shrink. Some have OLED screens across the range. It's possible that the brand new AppleA15Bionic processor. The iPhone13 will appear to power the series. The Pro model sometimes includes additional features such as a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate, and the ability to expand the model camera to 1TB of storage. Apple is likely to release the iPhone 13 in four models: iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 ProMax.

The release of iPhone 13 will be in the third week of September. Apple hasn't announced the date yet.
